Why can you a get copyright claim?
When we use a song of some artist (author), YouTube can recognize the usage of the track. As a result, you might get a copyright claim. This basically means that you can’t monetize video anymore.
In order to continue monetizing your video, you have to prove to YouTube that you have the right to use a particular track or just remove it from your video.
Every audio track has copyright, which means, it belongs to an author. Just for simplification, there are 3 types of tracks.
- Artists’ music (Madonna, Metallica, etc)
- Royalty-free & production music registered with the content id system
- Royalty-free & production music NOT registered with the content id system
3rd option is the easiest to deal with. You just bought the music (read: purchased a license) and use it. No problem. That’s the case at kabgig.com. You don’t need a license code for using tracks from this website.
But 1st and 2nd option requires a license code, that you have to provide to YouTube in order to remove copyright claims and monetize the video again.
- Obtaining a license in the 1st option is way beyond of this article, so we just drop it.
- Obtaining a license in the 2nd option is easy. Basically, you have to get this license code right after purchase, in your personal account or in the track package details file. If you didn’t, just request the code from the seller/author of the track.
So, how to remove a copyright claim on YouTube and prove that you have the right to use the track?
There are a few ways to do that:

- Then set the Start/End time of the section, that you are trimming out.
- Then hit Continue > Trim. Make sure that all claimed material is trimmed. Otherwise, YouTube might not release the claim.
2. Get rid of the song completely can remove a copyright claim too
In this case, you’re going to mute the copyrighted audio.
How to do that?
The process is similar up to the asterisk * above, where you’re checking out the details of the copyright claim. Then you just do the following:
- Hit Select Action > Mute Song
- Choose Mute all sounds or Mute the song only (might work incorrectly)
- Set Start/End points
- Preview your results in the preview
- Then hit Continue > Mute
3. Provide the license code and prove to YouTube that you have the right to use this track.
How to do that?
- You have to do steps from the 1st option above up until asterisk *, then
- Select Actions > Dispute
- Select reason License
- Paste your license number in the field
- Check all the boxes
- Put your name in the signature field
- Click Submit
